"The best vibes since we played the Fillmore!" -Robert Plant (June 2, 1973)

For one sunny afternoon performance, Led Zeppelin attracted a crowd of more than 49,000 into an aging, has-been football arena, set a band record for gross revenue at a single concert, enriched the City of San Francisco by more than $25,000, and entertained one entire neighbourhood for free.
The show climaxed the first half of the band’s 1973 US tour, which began May 4th in Atlanta. They’ll be back doing what they do best-- converting heavy metal into dollars—in July, hitting East Coast cities, plus Chicago and Detroit.
It was reported that the band could be heard up to half-mile away, along the Panhandle. And three blocks up the hill at the University of California Medical Centre, patients complained they couldn’t nap.
The Zeppelin freaks began to arrive for the Saturday show the preceding Thursday. Many brought sleeping bags and stayed overnight in park meadows. By the time promoter Bill Graham opened Kezar’s doors at 5:30am Saturday, several thousand persons were waiting. Graham, who says it is important “how you say hello,” handed out balloons and Frisbees.- Harry Huddleston, Rolling Stone 1973 -Original

The audience was made up of rough-looking sixty year-old biker types who clearly went back to the early days of Plant's career as well as twenty and thirty year olds.  This wasn't Plant's first trip to Winnipeg.  He performed with Led Zeppelin in 1970 and he knew exactly where he was.  As he and the producer were walking out to the CBC mobile, he asked if Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman were around.  Band of Joy features some of the most well respected musicians on the scene, including guitarist and musical director Buddy Miller, multi-instrumentalist Darrell Scott and vocalist and instrumentalist Patty Griffin. -Original

This is a excellent AUD recording of one of Zeps finest tours - Sound: Stereo-AUD 8/9 <-(Info taken from original info file) ::::: What an incredible show, and Jimmy in particular is playing some of the best guitar of the tour! The entire band is in a no nonsense mood, playing the best they can. No Quarter and Ten Years Gone are beautiful and Achilles Last Stand and Stairway To Heaven are exquisite. Jimmy's solo in Trampled Underfoot is one of the best he's ever done on that song and the funky Communication Breakdown encore caps what is probably one the best of the six LA Forum shows.<-(Info taken from argenteumastrum.com).

Notes: This copy of the legendary vinyl bootleg 'Killing Yourself To Die' is a really brilliant piece of work. Soundquality as good as on the vinyl and great artwork as you can see leaves only one main difference between the vinyl and the CD: the price! Like "The Ray Gillen Years" this CD was released by Bondage Music in Japan somewhere back in 1995! Everyone should check out the exciting version of "Gypsy" Lund ’77 is the finest quality specimen of a complete TECHNICAL ECSTASY era show in circulation. There has been some debate as to whether this show is an audience recording or from an FM broadcast. The stunning clarity and well-balanced mix would convince many that it may have been professionally recorded. In fact, it was recorded with a Nakamichi tape deck and 2 microphones. It’s true origin becomes more evident when you hear some clapping fairly close to the microphones. Also, Ozzy’s vocals are a bit more distant than one might expect them to be on a soundboard or FM tape -Original

Kiss first tour of Japan consisted of ten concerts in five cities, the highlight being an incredible three night run at the Budokan in Tokyo one of which was filmed and broadcast on HBO. The recording featured in this Tarantura release is from the third date on the tour in Kyoto. Kyoto Kaikan Hall a theatre that held an intimate audience of 2,500 people. The source for the recording comes from the vast Mr Peach archives and is of very good sound quality, very little audience interference with a nice balance of instruments. The concert itself showcases the band in top form playing a fast paced concert featuring a strong set list consisting of four new songs with the klassics mixed in. Starting with “Alright Kyoto, you wanted the best and you got them, the hottest band in the world KISS !”.<-(Info taken from collectorsmusicreviews.com).
